Meet Teacher Dulce!

I was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and attended bilingual (Dual Language, 50% English and 50% Spanish) private schools during all my years of school.

I graduated with honors being valedictorian at the ISEC private high school in area 2 (Chemistry-Biology), and was the only student from my entire school to obtain admission at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in the career of Veterinary Medicine,

I was studying and working as an English teacher at a private elementary school at the same time after graduating from high school. After two years, I developed a passion for education, dropped out of Veterinary school, and decided to dedicate myself to teaching.

In 1997, I obtained my English teaching certification in Mexico and received a diploma in Pedagogy from the Universidad Panamericana (UP) in 1998. I worked for six years as an English teacher for children and adults in different private schools in Mexico City and Puebla.

In 1998, I moved to Puebla, Mexico, where I lived for three years, and worked at a private High Scope school before moving to the United States in 2001. My experience at the High Scope school awakened my interest in nontraditional teaching methods and motivated me to learn more.
I had a transitional time when I came to the USA in which I put my teaching career on hold for a few years until I settled in Texas.

In 2005, I worked for the Houston Independent School District (HISD) as a Spanish hourly lecturer in grades Kindergarten through 5th until 2008.
The following year, I worked for a private Montessori school as a Spanish teacher/assistant in a primary classroom with the intent to learn the methodology.

In 2007, I obtained an Associate degree in Biology from Houston Community College. In December 2008, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Science in Psychology from the University of Houston-Downtown. After graduating, I obtained my certification as a bilingual (Spanish) generalist EC-4 in the state of Texas.
I returned to the Houston Independent School District (HISD), where I worked from August 2009 to June 2016 as a Kindergarten and PreK teacher. Other tasks I performed in those years included being a lead teacher, LEP coordinator, other teachers mentor, data analyst, and a health and wellness teacher (Yoga).

In 2016, I moved to San Antonio, TX, where I worked at the East Central Independent School District (ECISD) for two years as a Bilingual PreK teacher.

At the end of the 2017-2018 school year, I moved with my husband to the Czech Republic (Brno), where his work sent him for five months. There, I started to work on my own companies, DDIC , and Captain’s Wife
In December 2018, after we came back from Europe, we moved to the beautiful city of Destin, FL, where we currently live.
In January 2019, I took a Kindergarten class at the Okaloosa County School District from January until the end of the school year in June.
In July 2019, I obtained my professional teaching certification EC-3 in Florida.
In the Summer, I went back to the Czech Republic (Prague) with my husband for a second time from June until October.
Now I continue to work on my websites while I work as a middle school Spanish tutor at Metro Nashville Public Schools. I also teach English to Chinese children online part-time at VIPKid.
